Preserving History – Aboriginal Artefacts

DJL has been involved with significant archaeology projects to preserve aboriginal artefacts. Some projects have registered sites of significance and others discover artefacts unexpectedly.

DJL recently coordinated an archaeological excavation that discovered over 2,300 individual artefacts. The excavation resulted in the documentation, preservation and return of the artefacts to country.

While this is not a common occurrence in our work, it was an incredible opportunity to preserve a piece of history while educating the community on the importance of indigenous culture.

Case summary:

  • Preservation and documentation of over 2,300 artifacts

  • Time taken 10-week archaeological excavation

  • Removing any impact to and ensuring the ongoing protection of aboriginal history
